Status Update: Ace Rework


Hello, and thank your for the amazing support for DAWN's first few days!

It might not be done by next Saturday, but I'm experimenting with some new Ace rules as a better way to pace out combat encounters. The current one has some problems. Namely being way too punishing if the Narrator's mean, and not changing once Tension hits like 3/4.

The core idea of this rework is that each Ace will be once per scene and assigned a Tension value, when an enemy starts their Turn at or above that Tension value they will use their Ace rather than taking a normal Turn.

So far I've got this done for the first two pages of DPS enemies, and I've made some adjustments to make the aces worth sacrificing a turn for. I think I'll try to spread out the Tension values and place similar effects on the same value, as to incentivize a varied team comp.



If this works out I imagine it'll be far better paced and more consistently balanced regardless of the Narrator's decisions.

Also I'm gonna give them names.

So that they're cool.
